Assignment Instructions/ Description
The problem is as follows:
Twenty six (26) sample gallon containers of milk were selected from a dairy. The mean weight of the 26 gallon containers of milk was 2.7 pounds with a standard deviation of .4 lbs. You are to solve for the range of weight for a gallon of milk given a 90% confidence level.
You are solving for a prediction statement as found at the end of the discussion in Volume 2 Chapter 5. The formula for solution is actually found in Volume 2 Chapter 3 at the end of 3.4. Read this part specifically to solve for the problem and then answer the questions in the assignment quiz. You already have been given the mean ( X bar), the standard deviation, the sample population size, and the confidence level being sought. You will have to solve the standard error of the mean and find the t value. Again, Volume 2 Chapter 3 section 3.4 steps you right through it. To find the t value, check out the support material for the web links below as the table you need is located there. The t value is where the confidence interval and the degrees of freedom (df = n-1) intersect.
