In the opening chapters of Sula, Toni Morrison describes the experiences of Shadrack, a young soldierin World War One. She also details his return home. Based on these accounts, consider how his trauma and subsequent mistreatment shape his identity, and specifically how they lead him to create National Suicide Day. How is this a logical—or, perhaps, illogical—response to his experience? How is he treated by the community? What does this tell us about both the individual and the society in which he lives?
In addition: locate three or more images from World War 1 that support—however loosely—your argument. You canlocate these images from our library database (the library automatically generates the MLA citation) or from the World War One archive. The objective of using these images is to merely offer some context for your subject; they should simply be suggestive, rather than the subject ofa separate analysis.
