Assignment Instructions/ Description
Module 3: Discussion 1 -- Salaries and Performance Reward Discrimination
Topic: Recall the study by Dr. Castilla (Chapter 7) that found similar starting salaries but differential salary growth for women and minorities compared to White men even when performance ratings were the same. What are some possible negative consequences for the organization if these salary differences become widely known? What specific, detailed steps would you recommend be taken to avoid “performance-reward” discrimination?
Discussion Forums
Students are required to post to six (6) Discussions (25 points each) according to the class schedule. These include:
- Posting an initial discussion (minimum 2-3 paragraphs in length).
- Replying to two other student posting (minimum 1-2 paragraphs).
Please note that replies should be at least one paragraph (and include the student’s name) to merit points. If no reply is posted, a maximum of 15 points may be awarded. In many ways, discussion forums are the online equivalent of face-to-face class sessions. They are the central platform for connecting with fellow students. Therefore, it is important that discussion submissions are made when due as this represents timely and active class interaction and participation. Note: Submissions posted past the due dates are subject to no credit.
Please post your initial response by 23:59 EST Wednesday, and comment on the posts of two classmates by 23:59 EST Sunday, Week Three.
Note: Submissions posted past the due dates are subject to no credit.
