We have looked at several different issues related to police work and the different styles of policing. In this final unit, we cover Chapter 14 and Chapter 15, however, Homeland Security is a topic that is at the forefront of all law enforcement agencies in the country, and with the changes since 9/11, there have been new models of policing emerge. Using your textbook along with some research material, explain how the Problem-Oriented Policing (POP) concept works, and then tell how it differs from Community Oriented Policing (COP). Also, explain how these two concepts relate to Intelligence-Led Policing (ILP). Finally, answer the question: If you were the top executive in your agency, would you be more likely to use ILP, or only the COP concept, to address both your local crime problems and homeland security issues? Explain why you selected one over the other.
