Intervention Strategies to Overcome Resistance to Change

Prior to beginning work on this discussion forum, read Chapter 11 of your Kotter et al. (2021) course text, Chapter 8 in Research in organizational change and development, the Combatting resistance to change during the COVID 19 pandemic with design thinking approach: Making a case for the public sector conference session, and the Understanding resistance to change: An experiential exercise article. Also, review the 6 Barriers to Organizational Change, and How to Overcome Them (Links to an external site.) blog post, and the Ten Reasons Why People Resist Change in the Workplace? (Links to an external site.) video.
Review the reading materials related to resistance to change. Write a paper on the psychological and motivational issues associated with employees’ resistance to change, identifying what leaders can do to overcome resistance. In a paper of at least 1,000 words (excluding title, abstract, and reference pages) and citing at least two scholarly sources in addition to required readings,
- Explain how change impacts employees.
- Analyze the causes of resistance to change.
- Include both the psychological and motivational issues associated with resistance.
- Design intervention strategies to overcome barriers and resistance to change.
The Intervention Strategies paper
- Must be at least 1,000 words in length (not including title, abstract, and references pages) and formatted according to APA Style (Links to an external site.) as outlined in the Writing Center’s APA Formatting for Microsoft Word. (Links to an external site.)
- Must include a separate title page with the following:
- Title of page in bold font
- Space should appear between the title and the rest of the information on the title page.
- Student’s name
- Name of institution (The University of Arizona Global Campus)
- Course name and number
- Instructor’s name
- Due date
- Title of page in bold font

- Must include an introduction and conclusion paragraph. Your introduction paragraph needs to end with a clear thesis statement that indicates the purpose of your paper.

- Must use at least two scholarly sources in addition to required readings.
