The Research Proposal Paper 25 Points For this assignment, you are required to select a public or non- profit program that you would like to research. Explain what aspect of the program will be researched and your rationale for conducting this particular research. You are then required to develop a detailed plan as to how you would conduct such research (please incorporate what you have learned from the course). Please read below for a guide as to what should be included in this research plan/proposal. Remember, for this assignment you are not expected to conduct an actual research. You are required to prepare a proper plan for conducting the research i.e. a research proposal. The research project should identify well defined sections such as the topic/problem/objective with a clearly defined hypothesis, literature review, research methods and techniques, unit of analysis, discussion of how data will be obtained and analyzed, “possible results and conclusions”. Students must support all information with academically qualified references; however, emphasis should also be placed on original thought. Students should make an effort to minimize direct quotations by restating such researched information in their own words, but must be sure to cite others’ ideas properly to avoid even the appearance of plagiarism. 2 A minimum of four sources should be researched and reviewed for this paper. Proper in-text and reference page citations are expected and should follow the APA style. Papers are evaluated on process and substance, including the students’ ability to synthesize the material and provide an impressive proposal. The paper should reflect college- level work in content, appearance, organization, grammar and effort. P.S. The research paper proposal must be 7 - 11 pages in length but may be as long as necessary to achieve the objectives. Your research paper proposal must follow APA citation style and include the following sections: • Title page • Abstract page • Table of contents • Introduction • Literature review • Research design and methodology • “Possible results section” • Reference page • Appendices (if necessary) GENERAL GUIDELINES: To adequately complete this assignment, use the assigned textbooks: Elizabethann O'Sullivan, Gary R. Rassel, and Jocelyn Devance Taliaferro (Latest edition), Practical Research Methods 3 for Nonprofit and Public Administrators, Longman/Pearson Education, Inc. 1- Write 5-7 pages essay, not including cover page and bibliography. 2- Use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar. All written assignments must be in APA form and should be double spaced with 12-point Times New Roman font. Full APA citation is expected. The paper must conform to APA citation guidelines. 3- Turnitin will be used to help review all assignments in this course and a score of 10% or lower is required. 4- Papers are evaluated on process and substance, including the student’s ability to synthesize the material and provide a critical analysis of the issue(s) raised. 5- You will be graded on the knowledge you bring to bear on the question as well as the quality and organization of your written answers.
