Progress Report Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to keep me appraised of your progress in the class, give you additional practice addressing a specific audience, and provide you with an opportunity to reflect on your research thus far. • Locate, evaluate, and integrate credible research into a written document for a specific purpose and work-world audience. • Apply appropriate formatting and visual aids for a specific purpose and work-world audience. • Edit for accuracy, brevity, clarity, to write an ethical document with a specific purpose and work-world audience. Instructions: Draft a formal memo informing the owner of Initech about your own progress in the production of the final report. Examples of progress report formatting can be found in your textbook. Please use the following outline to draft your memo. As always, please leave off the Roman numerals in your section headers. Remember to be as specific (and ethical!) as possible. I. Introduction A. This is just the To, From, Date, and Subject of the header II. Project Overview A. This should include a brief restatement of your chosen topic, why you've chosen it, and the research questions you are currently pursuing. III. Work Completed A. What have you done thus far in the way of research and planning? (Give dates, sources, completed tasks where applicable.) IV. Work in Progress A. What's the current focus of your work? V. Work to Be Completed A. Provide a general outline for your work ahead. (Give dates and deadlines where applicable.) VI. Reflections A. For this section, you can drop the charade. It's designed to give an accurate picture of your work to date, so please be honest. VII. Review of Literature A. In this section list three credible sources (NOT Wikipedia, as we’ve discussed) that you have found so far in your research. For each entry, please write: • A formal citation in MLA, APA, or IEEE format (Consult the course readings and the appendix in your textbook for citation models.) • An approximately 200 word, original summary and evaluation (for each source) that describes the main points, explains the important features, and comments on the credibility of the source. Total Document Length: At least500 words, 12-point font, single spaced sections (double-space between sections)
