Part 2: One essay: 20 points
1. A cultural history course examines art, sculpture, literature, essays, architecture, and artifacts such as tombstones or clothing or tools to study historical time periods (rather than relying simply on written historical records). What is the value of this approach to studying history? What are the disadvantages? Give SPECIFIC examples from the art, architecture and artifacts we've studied this semester to support your arguments. Comparisons to contemporary cultural material are welcome! 250 words minimum
2. Some of the things we studied this semester are Map Rock, Monk's Mound, Great Serpent Mound, Pueblos, colonial gravestones, transcendentalism art
