Case Study One:
Featured Case 6.2: Woodbine Healthcare Center’s Treatment of Filipino Registered Nurses
This case presents a perplexing situation in which a nursing home petitioned the Department of Labor to hire Filipino registered nurses due to a nursing shortage in the U.S., then discriminated against the nurses by paying them lower wages than U.S. RNs and assigning them tasks of people with lower qualifications when they arrived.
Read the Case in your book and address all questions. Detailed instructions (as per syllabus) are annotated below.
Case Studies (250 points total):
There are six Case Studies (50 points each). For each Case Study, review the material and read the question(s). Case studies review a real-life or fictional scenario. They present opportunities to analyze what happened and to review the impact of these decisions or issues on organizations. The goal of analyzing a case study is to show an understanding of the facts of the case, the ensuing challenges and to suggest potential approaches and/or solutions to address arising problems and/or opportunities. Your response should be submitted on Sunday evenings by 23:59 ET. The format for the response should be as follows:
Essay, 2-3 pages, not including title page, references or appendices. On the title page add the name of the particular case study you are addressing.Address all the questions at the end of the case study. Include at least one citation from the book that is relevant to the questions being asked.APA format must be followed which means, 12 point Times Roman font, double spaced with 1" margins. If tables, charts and/or graphs are included, please include as part of the appendix.For this assignment, no abstract is neededComplete and submit the assignment by 23:59 EST Sunday, Week Two.
