Assignment Instructions/ Description
Comprehensive Literature ReviewAssignment
A literature review identifies, analyzes and summarizes the published research literature about a specific question.Its purpose is to establish what is currently known – from research - about a specific question, evaluate the strength of the evidence presented by that research, answer the question to the best of your ability, and then identify the implications of that answer/data, as well as areas of the topic that need further research.
A literature review,in general,focuses on the following areas:
· An overview of the subject, issue or theory under discussion, along with the objectives of the literature review;
· A division of the reviewedarticles into categories (such as those in support of a particular position, those against, and those offering entirely differentviewpoints/theories);
· An explanation of how each work is similar to and different from the other articles; and
· Conclusions as to which articlesmake the best arguments, are the most convincing of their opinions, and make the greatest contribution to the understanding and development of the area of research.
Your paper must be at least a 13-15 page paper (not including the title page, abstract, and reference list),double-spaced that describes the outcomes of your capstone literature review of at least 10 scholarly articles. This is worth100 points. The paper, at a minimum, must include:
· Title page(on a separate page)
· Abstract (on a separate page)
· Introduction
· Background
o A brief overview /background of the topic and why it is important to research this particular question, as well as information that the reader will need to know in order to understand your results section
· Methodology: how you conducted your research (databases, key words, inclusion and exclusion criteria, etc.)
· Results(this part focuses ENTIRELY on SCHOLARLY articles!)
o Often done as a division of the reviewed articles into categories (such as those in support of a particular position, those against, and those offering entirely different viewpoints/theories);
o The key points you found to answer your question
o Any important limitations of the research conducted in the articles that you wish to highlight
o An explanation of how each article’s research/results are similar to and/or different from the other articles; and
o Discussion as to which articles make the best arguments, are the most convincing of their opinions, and make the greatest contribution to the understanding and development of the area of research.
o This will be the longest section of your paper.
o You will discuss the limitations you faced to YOUR research; how could it have been improved? What could YOU have done differently?
o Your concluding section MUST also address the larger implications of your analysis for the field of public health.
o You will also include areas for future research
· Reference list incorrect APA format(at least 10-12 peer-reviewed, academic, scholarly sources) This will be on a separate page. Your reference list will probably contain MORE than 10-12 scholarly articles, and it may contain legitimate, but non-scholarly items as well (which you may be using in the background section or implications section). You are responsible for looking up the correct APA formatting for those additional types of references.
Your paper must be double-spaced, with 1-inch margins, in 12-point font.
You are required to use the APA (American Psychological Association) guidelines for your citations and reference style (https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/section/2/10/). See the APA: The Easy Way! short book as well. You do NOT need to use the “Running Head” type of formatting for the paper itself. In terms of APA, what I am most interested in is the way you do your in-text citations and references.
