Question 1 Motivation theories provide the most fertile foundational constructs for discussion of this case. Although there are many content and process theories, expectancy theory provides a framework that lends itself to creating actionable plans for understanding problems and changing situations. Please analyze the case through the framework of motivation and in particular expectancy theory. Where are the problematic areas? What other forces are at play in ColorTech’s Phoenix office that may be affecting Richardson’s ability to motivate her team? What can be done to change things around according to expectancy theory? What other motivation theories do you find relevant here? How could they help you diagnose the situation and provide guidance for change.
Question 2 Based on the new knowledge gained from the class what should Richardson do right now? What should ColorTech do right now with regard to Richardson? Based on your knowledge of influence and negotiations what are your specific guidelines for both sides for how to implement your recommendations smoothly. Please provide them with an actionable plan that they can negotiate and implement. This question has multiple parts: Recommendations for action for both Richardson and ColorTech AND recommendations for how to implement these actions (based on influence and negotiation). Make sure all parts are answered.
