Learning Plan 09LP09 Assignment Mock Interview
For this assignment, you will be setting up and participating in a mock interview. To get started, visit the Quintessential Careers w website for helpful tips on the informational interviewing process.
Completing a mock interview is often skipped in the interview process. However, this type of rehearsal is one of the best ways to improve your interview skills. While you can practice being interviewed by going to actual interviews, you can also gain this experience by participating in a mock interview. Mock interviews are beneficial for several reasons. They allow you to increase your confidence, and they require you to prepare, execute, and follow-up interview skills. Additionally, mock interviews provide you with the perfect setting to analyze and improve your skills in a controlled setting.
At this point, you need to decide if you are going to conduct your mock interview in a face-to-face environment with a professional interviewer or by using the Big Interview software. Follow the assignment directions below that align with your choice.
For scheduling a mock interview in a face-to-face environment with a professional interviewer:

Schedule a mock interview with someone who will ask you interview questions and provide you with feedback. It is recommended you use someone who does this as part of his/her job, such as someone in HR. By selecting someone in the hiring capacity to conduct your mock interview, the feedback you receive should be constructive, accurate, and helpful.Use the information on the Mock Interview Checklist to guide how you set up and execute your mock interview. Carefully study the grading criteria on the checklist prior to completing the mock interview so you are thoroughly prepared to be evaluated. Additionally, give your interviewer the checklist prior to the interview so he/she is aware of the grading criteria. Be sure it is the interviewer (not you) who completes the checklist. Ask your interviewer to give you specific comments on your performance, not just fill in checkmarks or points. Consider videotaping the mock interview so you can go back and see exactly where and how you want to improve.
Submit the completed Mock Interview Checklist to your instructor via the dropbox LP09 Assignment: Mock Interview. This assignment is worth 60 points and will be graded according to the Mock Interview Checklist.
For scheduling a virtual mock interview using the Big Interview software:
First, set up an account to use the Big Interview software (see registration information below).
After you have logged in to Big Interview, start by clicking “Practice” in the top navigation bar. Then click “Practice Interviews” from the dropdown menu; from there you can choose what type of interview you would like to practice. For now, start by clicking on the “General” and then choose interview questions from the “Top 10 Questions”, “Entry Level”, or “Mid Level”.
After you have decided which questions you want, choose your interviewer. As you will see, interviewers range from standard to tough; please choose one that is the best fit for your skill set.
Once you click on the specific interviewer, click “play” to have them ask the questions and click “record” so that your answers are documented. Complete this process for all ten questions, making sure you click “save” for each of your responses. The saved responses will appear in the “My Videos” area at the top. Once your videos appear, be sure to click “Make Visible” so your instructor can review the responses. The final step is to share the videos. To do so, click “share” on the last recording and then “share via email” in the box provided. Type in your instructor’s email address along with a short message. Type “Mock Interview” in the subject line along with your first and last name; click “send email”.
Carefully study the grading criteria on the Mock Interview Checklist prior to completing the mock interview so you are thoroughly prepared to be evaluated. Your instructor will listen to and evaluate your interview using the Mock Interview Checklist. For your instructor to complete the Mock Interview Checklist, you must first upload a blank Mock Interview Checklist to the LP9 Assignment: Mock Interview dropbox. Be sure your name is on the uploaded checklist.
This assignment is worth 60 points and will be graded according to the Mock Interview Checklist.
