Assignment Instructions/ Description
There will be a total of five times throughout the semester where grades will be assigned to a two-page student reflection. These reflections will be framed within the content of the current unit, but students should also pull ideas in from other units, outside the class, current events, et al. All reflections will be accompanied by a specific prompt in class (and posted on Canvas). While reflective writing may at times border on informal in tone, and most certainly aims for raw, honest thoughts, we still require cited material (2) to back your assertions.
Blueprint for Revolution talks about how non-violence can be effective anywhere (and, indeed, it was effective in Serbia). However, every revolution we've discussed this semester was violent in nature (even Civil Rights had a violent aspect).
Could a non-violent movement successfully alter the political, social, and economic structure of the United States? Why or why not? What would it look like?
